Sustainable Energy Botswana (SEB) is proud to share the inspiring story of one of our promising young Solar Apprentices, Masego Mosako, a dedicated and ambitious young woman from Jamataka Village. Masego’s journey is a testament to the transformative power of education, training, and unwavering support from community-focused initiatives like the US Embassy Ambassador’s Self Help Fund.
Masego’s story began in Jamataka Village, where opportunities for young people to pursue advanced education and careers in technical fields were limited. Despite the challenges, Masego’s determination and passion for renewable energy set her on a path toward a brighter future. She became an active participant in the job training program facilitated by SEB and DLA, which was made possible through the generous support of the US Embassy Ambassador’s Self Help Fund. This initiative, aimed at empowering the Jamataka Multipurpose Cooperative Society, provided Masego with the foundational skills and knowledge she needed to pursue her dreams.
Her dedication and hard work paid off when she applied and was accepted into the electrical engineering course at Selebi Phikwe Technical Vocational Training Centre. This achievement marked a significant milestone in her journey, reflecting her commitment to advancing her skills and knowledge in the renewable energy sector. Masego’s acceptance into this program was not just a personal victory but also a shining example of what can be achieved when young people are given the tools and opportunities to succeed. SEB is proud to sponsor Masego during her studies, supporting her continued growth and contribution to Botswana’s clean energy transition.
Her recent work was joining our project at a Diamond Facility. This project provided her with hands-on experience, allowing her to apply the theoretical knowledge she has gained in a real-world setting. Working alongside seasoned professionals, Masego had the opportunity to further develop her technical skills, gain invaluable practical experience, and build a strong foundation for a successful career in the renewable energy industry.
The significance of this opportunity cannot be overstated. It represents the next step in Masego’s journey—a step that brings her closer to her goal of becoming a leader in Botswana’s growing renewable energy sector. Her story is a powerful reminder of the importance of investing in the education and training of young people, particularly in rural areas where such opportunities are often scarce.
In recognition of Masego’s remarkable journey and commitment, SEB was honored to host a visit by the US Ambassador and representatives from the US Embassy to the project site in Gaborone. This visit provided a unique opportunity to meet Masego in person and hear firsthand about her experiences and insights into her journey within the renewable energy sector. The visit also highlighted the tangible impact of the US Embassy Ambassador’s Self Help Fund, showcasing how this support is helping to shape the future of young people like Masego.
Masego Mosako’s story is not just a personal success; it is a testament to what can be achieved when communities, organizations, and governments work together to empower the next generation. SEB remains committed to providing young people with the opportunities they need to thrive and succeed. We believe that by investing in individuals like Masego, we are investing in the future of Botswana and the sustainability of our planet.
As Masego embarks on this exciting chapter of her journey, we look forward to watching her grow, succeed, and inspire others to follow in her footsteps. Her story is a beacon of hope and a powerful reminder that with determination, support, and the right opportunities, anything is possible.
